Chex Quest 3 2008-09-14 04:38:05
Recently a member from the original Chex Quest team decided to expand on the Chex Quest world by making Chex Quest 3. He made the mistake of making a modified ZDoom build, so I haven't really had a chance to properly play it. I must stress that there is usually no reason to ever modify ZDoom. For those on Windows you can go to this forum thread and check out Chex Quest 3. For everyone else, at around page 8 you can find a ZDoom compatible version of it and compile the latest ZDoom SVN. (While doing that you can check out native chex.wad support too!)
Also, since school started, I can finally say I hate Dreamweaver. Anything that makes my web sites 5 time larger then I can make them by hand really doesn't sound like a worthy tool. Also it converts tabs to spaces which is a big no-no in my opinion.
Doom Editing for Everyone 2008-08-05 05:36:33
I have doubts that anyone noticed my Qt WAD and PK3 editor that I've been posting screen shots of in the gallery. Well I joined up to make Simple Doom Editor. The project aims to provide a cross platform editor (specifically targeting Linux users) that easy to use yet powerful. Of course after a long debate on GUI toolkit I settled for GTKmm.
When will it be done? I really have no idea. Would be nice to see another one of my products make its way out of the alpha/beta stages. (I still have the Dialog Editor and the Skulltag Server Browser to maintain.)
Time for an update 2008-07-26 08:27:43
I was browsing the Skulltag forums today when once again they got hacked. It really amazes me that there are people that would bother to break into a small community. Particularly when they start advertising for ZDaemon. I'm sure ZDaemon does not want support from people who try to break into other sites. People who play Skulltag will continue to play Skulltag reguardless. So here we are going to go through the same procedure. Shutdown the forums, restore back ups, clean up, and reopen. I suppose with the down time people will use the time to play Skulltag.
In other news I recently bought a PSP. I personally think its a decent system. Makes me wonder why people buy things like iPods when there are other devices that do the same things and more. I'm also a bit surprised that Sony isn't the leader in this generation due to the amount of features they put into their systems. But I suppose exclusive games are the main selling point.
In addition I finally got around to playing with C++ GUI programming with Qt. Perhaps I'll finally make a WAD editor so I can open the things on Linux. But of course I have Skulltag and ZDoom on my list of things to do. Kind of make me wonder when I'll ever finish more BitOwl products. . . That reminds me I need to update the site since I've moved on from just scripts (not that the reminder will get it done any faster, heh).
I've been watching some of the E3 updates and I've gotten pretty excited for the new Ratchet and Clank game. Though as of right now only Europe is going to get it on Blu-ray but Insomniac has confirmed its region free so I'll probably be importing that. Not only because I almost refuse to use the digital download services, but because I haven't updated to firmware 2.41 on my PS3. I hear there are still issues and I feel its probably safer to wait for some of them to be fixed. Though I hear if I wire the PS3 the bigger of the problems won't happen. Did I ever mention wireless sucks?
I also managed to get a boxed copy of Strife finally.

Since the only "people" leaving comments were spam bots I opted to remove the comments altogether. If someone has something they would like to comment on a link to my email address can be found at the bottom of this page. (I'm not too concerned about email spam as Thunderbird does a good job at filtering most of it.)
